Resolutions for 2010

December 31, 2009

Hmmm…I feel obligated to make some resolutions.

1) Continue to eat healthier and help my family eat healthier.
2) A perennial favorite – exercise more.
3) Make more time for my family – I don’t know where I’m going to find more hours in the day, but leave it to me to figure it out!
I guess that’s it…not [...]

Tortured Tuesday! Meat?

December 30, 2009

I usually do a recipe on Tortured Tuesday…and usually do them on Tuesday, not Wednesday! lol
I wanted to showcase something I discovered.  As you may (or may not know) I have cut out meat and dairy from my diet.

Sometimes I still feel like I need that extra something that meat gives in a recipe…so I [...]

Finally Friday! Nutcracker

December 26, 2009

Okay…it’s really Saturday, but with Christmas and all…anyway, here’s what we tried.
I actually had several tasters this week: me, my Mom, my Mother-In-Law, and my husband.  They all liked it.
It’s a Nutcracker…and it’s delicious.

Nutcracker
Fill a short glass with ice.
1 oz Vanilla Vodka
1 oz Kahlua
1 oz Irish Cream
Shake.
Enjoy!

I’d give it a 5 glass rating! [...]

Tortured Tuesday! Green Smoothies

December 22, 2009

So, here’s one that I cannot get my son OR my husband to try – green smoothies.  What is a green smoothie, you ask.  It’s basically a smoothie with some sort of greens…I prefer spinach, but I’ve used kale and all kinds of lettuce.
I don’t really follow a recipe, just whatever strikes my fancy at [...]

A big fish = a good day!

December 21, 2009

My husband is currently fishing on the Texas/Mexico border.
Saturday he caught a HUGE fish & I’m so excited for him I had to post it!
It’s a 10 1/2 pound bass.

It’s a bad picture, but you can still see how AWESOME it is.

My new favorite t-shirt!

December 19, 2009

I’m a boy’s Mom…and I’m VERY proud of it.
I found the perfect shirt to tell everyone, as if they didn’t already know!

I might also have to purchase the baseball one!

They have several styles to choose from.  Make sure you look at their sizes, because a small is for sizes 0-2!
Can’t wait for it to get [...]

Finally Friday! Beer!

December 18, 2009

It’s finally Friday, and I thought I’d take a break from the mixed drinks and talk about my favorite go-to drink…BEER!
It’s uncomplicated and easy to find!  There’s no mixing, no fussing, no fancy straws or umbrellas to be had. It’s perfect! lol
If I’m not drinking Miller Lite, it’s got to be dark beer. Some [...]

What does a Vegan read?

December 17, 2009

The following are some of my most recent reads:
1.  Eat to Live by Dr. Joel Fuhrman - I read this in August and it has truly changed the way my family and I eat.  Since that point, I have tried to eliminate dairy and meat and feed my husband and my son healthier meals.  My husband initially [...]

Gift giving guide – golfer addition

December 17, 2009

My friends at Tipsy Society put together this great Guy Gift Guide for golfers.  Lot’s of wonderful ideas.  (I just love their site!!)
This little gem didn’t seem to appear on their list!  Hmmm…better let them know their oversite.  lol I guess Japan has a more liberal dress code on the course than we do here in the [...]

Perfect gift – for your aspiring sous chef!

December 16, 2009

My son absolutely LOVES to cook with me.  He has been helping since he was about 2 1/2.

My sous chef

The BEST thing I have purchased for him has been the Learning Tower. Granted, it’s pricey…BUT it is worth every cent. We use this every-single-day.
It is so much sturdier than a chair/stool.  It also adjusts as [...]
