One year ago today I stopped eating meat and dairy…and I feel great!
I wouldn’t call myself a ’strict’ vegan, simply because from time to time I might eat fried pickles (eggs in the dredging…and I might dip it in Chipotle Ranch dressing).
There was also a time in the spring where I had to indulge in some crawfish.
I began eating this way, because I believe it to be a healthier lifestyle. I must say it also makes me happy to know that I’m not eating animals any more.
One of my favorite questions when I tell people I don’t eat meat is, “what about chicken?” Like chicken isn’t meat. lol
The next question is always, “what about fish?” I usually end up telling people that I try to avoid eating anything (or any product from anything) that ever had a heart…which usually helps them understand.
Then there is the ever popular question, “where to you get your protein.”
I’ve learned a lot about nutrition and eating properly over the last year. I find it amazing how fast people are to object to how I eat, while they eat donut after donut. lol
Another thing people ask about is going out to eat, but my husband will attest to the fact that I have ALWAYS been able to find something…without any effort. Even when we were in Mexico…and the waiters could not comprehend WHY I didn’t want ANY meat or dairy…I still found delicous food.
More often than not, if you don’t see anything on the menu, you can just tell the waiter that you don’t eat meat or dairy…and ask them to have the chef prepare something for you…they’re glad to oblige.
Looking forward to another year of healthy eating!

Congrats on your 1 year anni! Why are you torturing me with pictures of fried pickles! Did you make those yourself?
@ Amanda – Ha! No, whenever I get a craving for them…we go to a restaurant. I HATE frying things in my house!
