New Year’s Survey

by Donna on December 29, 2010

Okay, so…if you only blog once a month…is it considered a blog?  Oh well!  C’est la vie.

I’m stealing an idea from my Tipsy friends…a New Year’s survey.  It’s good to reflect on the past year…it helps you know where you need to go.

  • What did you do in 2010 that you’d never done before?
    • A few new things…played night golf and won a poker tournament.  I’m sure there were others, but those jumped out at me.
  • Did you keep your new year’s resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
    • I didn’t do so well on last year’s.  Didn’t exercise more.  Eat very healthy.  Still not enough time.
  • Did anyone close to you give birth?
    • Yes, several people.
  • Did anyone close to you die?
    • No.
  • What countries did you visit?
    • Mexico – Playa del Carmen
  • What would you like to have in 2011 that you lacked in 2010?
    • More time with my son and husband – there’s never enough.
  • What dates from 2010 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
    • Nothing stands out in particular.
  • What was your biggest achievement of the year?
    • Surviving another year of our “annual party”.  lol
  • What was your biggest failure?
    • No failures…everything is a learning experience.
  • Did you suffer illness or injury?
    • Nothing major.
  • What was the best thing you bought?
    • My favorite thing is my Vitamix blender.  Really.  That thing is amazing.
  • Whose behavior merited celebration?
    • My husband and my son’s.  I am so blessed to have such a well behaved child…and my husband’s pretty good too!  ;)
  • Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
    • No one.
  • Where did most of your money go?
    • Bills and savings.
  • What did you get really excited about?
    • Seeing how much my son is growing.  He is such an amazing child.  His personality is hilarious…and he’s very well behaved.  I’m truly blessed.
  • What song will always remind you of 2010?
    • Dynamite – Taio Cruz-not exactly my kind of music, but they played it at the LSU games…and my son has started singing it!
  • Compared to this time last year, are you: a)happier or sadder? b) thinner or fatter? c)richer or poorer?
    • Happier, fatter and richer.  I wouldn’t say “fatter”, but I am a healthier weight.
  • What do you wish you’d done more of?
    • More time with hubby and son.  Work sure does get in the way of my social life!
  • What do you wish you’d done less of?
    • Worked.  lol  Love the job, but I’d love to be home with my son even more!
  • How did you spend Christmas?
    • My parents and mother-in-law spent night Christmas Eve.  We opened presents Christmas morning and after lunch we went over to my husband’s aunt and uncle’s house.  Visited with cousins, aunts and uncles.  Had a great time!
  • Did you fall in love in 2010?
    • Love my husband more each year that passes.  He never ceases to amaze me in his thoughts and actions.  He’s perfect – for me!  ;)
  • What was your favorite TV program?
    • It’s still CSI.
  • Do you hate anyone now that you didn’t hate this time last year?
    • I don’t “hate” anyone.  Period.
  • What was the best book you read?
    • Currently reading a children’s Bible with my son, does that count?
  • What was your greatest musical discovery?
    • No one that I can remember.
  • What did you want and get?
    • More importantly…I have everything that I need.
  • What did you want and not get?
    • Well, I would like to win the lottery.  ;)
  • What was your favorite film of this year?
    • We don’t go to the movies that often, unless it’s to see a kids film.  So, I guess Toy Story 3.
  • What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
    • Went with hubby and son to New Braunfels.  Spent time playing in the river with some good friends.  It was a great day.  Turned 37.
  • What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
    • Winning the lottery.
  • How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2010?
    • Ann Taylor Loft.  Casual.  Comfy.  Jeans.  Flip flops.
  • What kept you sane?
    • My husband and my son.  They both have a way of putting things in perspective for me.
  • What political issue stirred you the most?
    • I don’t enjoy politics.
  • Who did you miss?
    • I miss seeing my son and husband while I’m at work.  I don’t spend as much time as I would like with my mom.  And my best friend, in Dallas…I’d like to see more.
  • Who was the best new person you met?
    • We have some great neighbors!  They are a blast…and great people.
  • Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2010.
    • Courtesy of my husband, “You can’t understand or explain crazy.”
  • Quote a song lyric that sums up your year.
    • You and me together, we could do anything, Baby
You and me together yes, yes
      – Dave Matthews

Have a safe and happy new year!!
